Former St Teresa’s pupil brings world famous musicians back to school!
The first Surrey Hills Music Festival will be held in the three different scenic venues detailed below and performances will include chamber music, opera and singing. There will also be masterclasses and a singing workshop open to all adults and young musicians of Surrey.
Thursday 1st July 2010 at 8.00 pm
Covent Garden opera soprano Lucy Crowe will perform opera arias and English folk songs accompanied by Tessa Grobel.
Friday 2nd July 2010 at 7.30pm Piano Duet Concert at The Guildhall, Guildford Piano Duo Wu Qian and Tessa Grobel will perform a variety of piano duets including Gershwin’s Rhapsody In Blue and Schubert’s Fantasie in F minor. Saturday 3rd July 2010 from 11am –1pm
A once in a lifetime chance to experience a Masterclass with Nicola Benedetti and The Sitkovetsky Trio, “reminiscent of the Beaux Arts Trio in it’s heyday..” The Independent Young Person’s Masterclass (8-18) – Participation £30. Limited places. Tickets £10 to be in the audience of the masterclass. Saturday 3rd July 2010 at 7.30pm Gala Chamber Concert at St Teresa’s School, Beech Avenue, Effingham Brit Award Winner 2008 and Classic FM artist of the year, Nicola Benedetti and The Sitkovetksy Trio will perform chamber works by composers including Schubert and Mendelssohn. From July 1st to July 4th 2010 former St Teresa’s pupil, Tessa Grobel will bring a host of stars from the world of classical music to perform in and around her old school. Now a professional musician herself and Director of Liberation Music Agency, Tessa and her colleagues believe passionately that the highest standards of music should be accessible to all. She and Artistic Director Wu Qian, together with world famous violin soloist, Nicola Benedetti, all learned their art in Surrey schools and want to bring their professionalism back to its roots.
